Go old school with this cozy cocktail inspired by the traditional recipe featured in Trader Vic’s Book of Food & Drink, published in 1946!
Ingredients
- 4 ounces unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 pound brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 pinch kosher salt
- 1½ ounces rum per cocktail
- Hot water, to top off
Preparation
To make batter, cream together butter and brown sugar until smooth, then add spices and salt and stir to combine.
For the cocktail, combine 1 heaping teaspoon of batter with 1½ ounces rum in a warm mug, then top off with hot water.
